Dutch Square Melaka

Where to go when you're in Melaka?

If you're looking for an adventurous and historical building in Melaka, then Dutch Square is the perfect place to start!

- Christ Church Melaka

Fee:             Free

Location:     Dutch Square

Sign:             Red Building with Sign "Christ Church Melaka"

This building is very easy to spot and usually will be very crowded during the long weekend because this spot is the first spot for a tourist service guide from outside Malaysia(most tourist service guides from China and Vietnam choose this place as their first stop), so be mindful if you're visiting this Church on a weekend.

Built in the 18th century, this Church became the oldest Protestant Church in Malaysia, do you know that this Church was painted white for the first time?  This Church started its journey from the signing of the Anglo-Dutch Treaty of 1824 when Malacca was transferred to the British East India Company, and then it started to be painted in Red around the 19th century to keep a remembrance of Dutch occupation, hence it's called Dutch Square.

What's Inside Christ Church Melaka?

Be ready to feel historical Church style with wooden beams and ceiling as high as 12m, with simple white and dark brown tone, this Church is still functional, so please be mindful that you're going to enter a Holy Place for Christians, there's no entrance fee, and you can pay as you wish as offering, it's not compulsory.
